Leonardo DiCaprio is busy shooting a phone commercial that will pay him $5 million as part of a huge endorsement deal. It sounds almost unbelievable, but sometimes it takes a lot of money to get a celebrity of his stature to endorse a product.
DiCaprio is getting the $5 million from Guandgdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp. in China. From the photo released on set, it almost appears like he is doing another action movie, and that is probably one of the reasons that cell phone company really wanted him involved in the promotion.This doesn't seem like something DiCaprio would normally be involved with, especially during his busy film career. The money must have really spoken to him though, and who among us wouldn't take $5 million for a quick commercial shoot? If the advertising is successful, it could also bring a lot of credence to anything that Guandgdong sells in the future as well.
There are of course questions about whether he really likes the product, or simply likes the paycheck. But those are the same questions that come with any high-level endorsement deal like this.
